Merapi volcano is one the object of popular climbing. The route and the most common is through the north side of Selo, One of District in Boyolali, Central Java which lies beetween merapi mount and merbabu. Climbing through Selo takes an average of 5 hours to the top.
Another popular route is throught the kaliurang, Pakem district, Sleman regency, Yogyakarta on the southern side. This route is more steep and take 6-7 hours to the summit. Another alternative route is throught the northwest side, starting from sawangan, Magelang regency, Central Java, and through the southeast, from the direction Deles, Kemalang District, Klaten Regency, Central Java.
