Moyo Island - Marine Park View

Although small, but this quiet island has incredible natural wealth. It is a Beautiful island which attracted some famous people like Lady Diana or Mick Jagger to come here. Moyo Island, a small island located in the northern island of Sumbawa, West Nusa Tenggara Province. Seeing the beauty of the beach, sea and nature, offers serenity for nature lovers and underwater.

Natural Charm

Moyo Island has a variation in altitude of 0-648 m above sea level. Moyo Island area of approximately 30.000 hectares, as a marker of sustainability, you’ll find hundreds of butterflies will be visible from behind the bushes, trees or in the central savanna.  The island is also inhabited by 21 species of bats, birds, macaque, wild pig, deer and snakes. With an unspoiled natural condition, so you are not recommended to enter the island without a guide, because there is a possibility to get lost.

Beautiful forests almost untouched, waterfalls, natural rivers or marine parks will find here. You also can hiking in jungle, along rivers and waterfalls, some caves that can be reached by foot, can be an alternative activity. One of them is the cave of Ai Manis be achieved with a little rock-climbing.

This cave is its nesting place of hundreds of bats. In addition, other activities you can do are tracking that can be started from Labuan Haji, toward the Waterfall Brang Rea located in the middle of the island. If you want to snorkel or dive, the area around the island offers a variety of beauty underwater which is also not less interesting. Another attraction in this island is beautiful marine parks that make up the formation of soft and hard corals, sponges crustacea.

Transportation

For tourists who want to visit to Moyo Island, could reach it through the town of Sumbawa Besar. From Sumbawa Besar, tourists can rent a car for speeding 20 km to the north, towards the coastal village named Ai Bari. From here, tourists can hire a speedboat which can be used to cross the Moyo Island. Travel using speedboats will take approximately 15 minutes.

Accommodation

Moyo Island offers a resort called Amanwana Resort, which provides overnight facilities using the tent. It is not a regular tent. This is luxurious tent equipped with sitting room to enjoy the view, king-size bed, writing desk, large bathrooms and air conditioning.
