History of Volcano Eruption in Indonesia
We all know that Indonesia is a warehouse of a volcano. Of 129 active volcanoes spread across the Indonesian archipelago, about 80 volcanoes estimated very active and eruptions recorded in history since 1600. The volcano that erupted in the years classified as type A. While Type B is volcano had erupted before the year, and for type C only solfatara and fumarola phenomenon and according scientifically has small erupt potential in the future.
The number of type-A volcano that has erupt potential spread of about: 12 volcanoes in Sumatra, 23 volcanoes in Java-Bali, 20 volcanoes in Nusa Tenggara, 14 volcanoes in Maluku Islands and 11 volcanoes in North Sulawesi. According to the Centre of Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation, there are 129 active volcanoes scattered in Indonesian archipelago, and about 60% of volcano has danger potential eruption.
Tambora eruption in 1815 became one of the major victims disasters which reached 92,000 people died. Besides Krakatoa eruption in 1883 killed more than 36,000 people mainly by the Tsunami that swept the coastal areas of western Java and south Sumatra. Gunung Agung eruption in 1963 caused 1,148 deaths. Another major eruption was in 1920 by Mount Kelud, Merapi in 1930 and Galunggung in 1982.
And on October 25, 2010 Merapi volcano has erupts with clouds. Merapi also had erupted in 2006. More than that, we hopefully this disaster quickly end up in Indonesia.
